Battle At the Hamlet

I have finally had a chance to play my first game of Warhammer 3rd Edition. The resulting battle report has been written up sing Comic Life, my first attempt at using this software properly. I hope you enjoy the results! (Note: I do find the default display of pictures in Blogger to be not so good for these style of reports. If anyone knows of a way to change the display setting, please let me know!)

[Edit: I have now resized some of the text boxes and corrected a couple of typos. Hopefully it will be easier to read.]

  1. What fun, and it didn't cost you an arm and a leg to field it!

  2. Thank you, I'm pleased you enjoyed it! I should apologise for the couple of typos I've just noticed. You can read over these things so many times, but something always seems to sneak through. I'll try and correct them at some point.

  3. Nice work!
Love the details like the skaven running underground!

  4. Thanks! For the tunnel I just pushed a conveniently brown chair under the table and stood the figures on it. But it turned out okay!

  5. That was an awesome report! As above, who needs 1000s and 1000s of points to have fun!??! Good show dude!

  6. Thanks buddy! I'm pleased you enjoyed it. Of course, seeing that it went well, I am bound to carry on painting and building up the forces, but it was certainly more fun than I expected for only around 400 points. The random elements of the tunnelling team (stolen from a later edition, I confess) and the plague censer bearer certainly made it more interesting than expected.

  7. Wow, Chris! This stuff is great! Really well done. I'm going to investigate this Comic Life too. A very, very nice way to tell a story!

  8. Thanks, Gaj! It is well worth checking it out. Unfortunatly I'm still spotting typos! Will need to be more careful with the next one. It takes a while to put it together but I think the end result is worth it.

The blood and plague censer effects were done simply using a airbrush tool on some open source image editing software.

I think I prefer this method to lots of text as wargames are more about the visual story to me and Comic Life helps to bring that across!

  9. Really good, original and funny! Excellent work...

    1. Hi Phil
